Same-Day Teeth Implants: What Is Realistic, and What Is Marketing

'Teeth in a day' usually means same-day temporary teeth, not the final bridge. Who qualifies, who does not, and why the honest answer is 'where clinically possible'.

Cyprus Dental guide: Same-Day Teeth Implants: What Is Realistic, and What Is Marketing

"Teeth in a day" is one of the most effective phrases in dental tourism marketing, and one of the most misunderstood. It is not exactly false — many patients genuinely do walk out with fixed teeth on the same day their implants are placed. But those teeth are temporary. The final bridge comes three to six months later, once the bone has healed around the implants. If a clinic's advertising skips that second part, it is telling you half the story.

What "same-day teeth" actually means

When implants are placed, they need time to fuse with the jawbone — a process called osseointegration that typically takes three to six months. During that period the implants should not carry full biting force. What can often be done on the day of surgery is fitting a provisional bridge: a lighter, temporary set of fixed teeth attached to the implants. You leave with a complete smile, you can speak and eat soft foods, and you are not left with a gap while you heal.

The provisional is not the finished product. It is deliberately made from lighter material and adjusted to protect the implants during healing. The definitive bridge — typically zirconia or porcelain — is made and fitted at a second, shorter visit once healing is confirmed.

Who is a good candidate

Same-day temporary teeth depend on one thing above all: the implants achieving a firm initial grip in the bone, known as primary stability. That in turn depends on:

  • Bone volume and density. Enough healthy bone in the right places, confirmed on a CT scan — not guessed from photographs alone.
  • Gum and general health. Active gum disease or poorly controlled diabetes work against predictable healing.
  • The treatment plan itself. Full-arch approaches such as All-on-4 often suit same-day loading, because the implants are angled into the denser bone towards the front of the jaw.

Who is not — and why honest clinics say "where clinically possible"

If you need bone grafting or a sinus lift, the grafted bone must heal before implants can be loaded, which adds months to the overall timeline. Heavy smoking, certain medications and some medical conditions can also make a staged approach the safer choice. And sometimes the decision is only made in the chair: primary stability is measured during surgery, and if an implant does not achieve the required grip, attaching teeth to it the same day would put the whole result at risk.

That is why a careful clinic will say "same-day temporary teeth where clinically possible" rather than promising them to everyone. A clinic that guarantees final, permanent teeth in a day to every enquirer — before seeing a scan — is describing its marketing, not its dentistry.

The realistic timeline at Cyprus Dental

For a typical full-arch case at our clinic in Kyrenia, the sequence looks like this. A first visit of a few days: CT scan and clinical assessment, implant placement, and same-day temporary teeth where the clinical picture allows. Then three to six months of healing at home, with photo check-ins over WhatsApp seven days a week. Then a second short visit for the final fixed bridge. All-on-4 starts from €5,800 per jaw including the implants and the fixed bridge; bone grafting, sinus lifts and extractions are quoted separately after the scan — full details are on our prices page. We use German-manufactured implant systems, and the brand and lot number of every implant are recorded and given to you in writing.

One more piece of honesty: we are a private clinic operating under North Cyprus dental regulations, not registered with the UK GDC, so UK complaint routes do not apply. What that means in practice is set out on our important information page.
