Dental implants abroad: an honest guide for UK patients
What UK prices actually cover, what going abroad really involves, and the questions you should ask any clinic — including us — before you book a flight.
Roughly speaking, a single dental implant in the UK costs £2,000–£2,500 once the crown is included. The same treatment — often with the same German-manufactured implant brands — costs a fraction of that abroad. That gap is real, but so are the pitfalls. This guide covers both.
Why the price difference is genuine
Implant treatment is labour-priced. The implant itself, the titanium screw, costs a clinic a broadly similar amount everywhere in Europe — what differs is chair time, salaries, rent and insurance. In North Cyprus those costs are far lower than in London or Manchester, which is why a single implant here starts from €550 (about £475) without the quality of the hardware changing. When a UK dentist tells you cheap implants abroad must mean cheap materials, ask which brand the foreign clinic places. If the answer is a German or Swiss system with a lot number on your record, the material argument disappears.
What treatment abroad actually involves
For a straightforward case: one visit of a few days for assessment, 3D scan and implant placement — with same-day temporary teeth where clinically possible — then a second short visit around three to six months later for the final restoration once the bone has healed. Complex cases (bone grafting, sinus lifts) need more time, and an honest clinic will tell you that before you fly, not after.
The risks nobody should hide from you
Going abroad means your implant surgeon is not around the corner if something feels wrong in week three. Ask every clinic — including us — these questions before booking:
- Which implant brand do you place, and do I get the brand and lot number in writing?
- Is my quote fixed after assessment, or can it grow once I am in the chair?
- What happens if I need attention after I fly home? Who pays if something fails?
- Are you a registered clinic in your country, and can I see patient results?
A clinic that answers all four in writing is worth talking to. A clinic that dodges any of them is not — whatever the price.
How we answer them
We place German-manufactured implant systems and record the brand and lot number of every implant on your treatment record. Quotes are written and fixed after your assessment. Aftercare runs on WhatsApp seven days a week, and our Important information page sets out plainly what being treated outside the UK means for regulation and complaints — read it before you decide.
If you want a number to compare against your UK quote, send us a photo on WhatsApp — you will usually have an indicative price the same day, free, with no obligation.
