"Hollywood Smile" is marketing language, not a clinical term — it simply means redesigning the visible teeth with veneers or crowns. Because the phrase sells, it gets attached to good dentistry and bad dentistry alike. Here is how to tell them apart.
Veneers vs crowns — the difference that matters
A veneer is a thin zirconia or porcelain shell bonded to the front of the tooth; it needs only light reshaping of the enamel. A crown wraps the whole tooth and requires substantially more of it to be ground away. Crowns are the right call for teeth that are already heavily filled, broken or root-treated. On healthy teeth, grinding for crowns when veneers would do costs you tooth structure you never get back.
The warning sign is a clinic that quotes crowns for every tooth without looking at each one. The honest answer for most smiles is a mix, decided tooth by tooth at assessment.
How the treatment runs
One visit of around a week: assessment and smile design, preparation, and a try-in of the design in temporary material — you approve how it looks before anything is final. The zirconia set is then milled, adjusted and bonded. You fly home with the finished smile; aftercare questions go to WhatsApp.
What it costs and how long it lasts
Full-set packages start from €4,000 — a comparable UK smile makeover commonly runs £8,000–£12,000. Zirconia, looked after with normal brushing and a night guard if you grind, is a 10-to-15-year restoration, not a cosmetic that fades in two.
