How to Compare Dental Treatment Quotes: A Practical Checklist

Two quotes for "a dental implant" can differ by thousands of pounds and still describe entirely different treatments. One includes the crown; the other does not. One names the implant brand; the other stays silent. One is fixed in writing; the other is a "from" figure that grows once you are in the chair. Whether you are comparing two UK practices, a UK practice against a clinic abroad, or several clinics in Cyprus — including ours — the same checklist applies. We publish it because clinics like ours do well out of honest comparisons and badly out of vague ones.

Is the crown included — and what else?

An implant is not a finished tooth. A proper quote states whether it covers the implant itself, the abutment and the crown, or only some of those parts. In the UK a single implant typically costs £2,000–£2,500 including the crown; in Ireland, €2,400–€3,000. At our clinic in Kyrenia a single implant starts from €550 (about £475). Those figures are only comparable if each covers the same components, so ask every clinic to itemise. The same applies to full-arch work: an All-on-4 quote should say whether the fixed bridge is included. Which brand — and is it in writing?

Implant systems are not interchangeable, and a clinic confident in its materials will name the manufacturer without being asked. We use German-manufactured implant systems and record the brand and lot number of every implant placed, handed to you in writing — a small piece of paperwork that matters greatly if you ever need work done elsewhere. Ask, too, whether the figure itself is fixed. A "starting from" number given before anyone has examined your mouth is an estimate, not a quote. The honest sequence is: clinical assessment first, then a fixed written quote that does not change afterwards.

What is excluded, and when would you find out?

Bone grafting, sinus lifts, extractions, sedation and additional restorations are all legitimate extras — the question is whether they are named and priced before you commit, or discovered mid-treatment. We quote these separately, after the scan, so nothing appears on the bill that was not on the quote. Any clinic, anywhere, should be able to do the same. Do the full travel maths

If you are weighing home against abroad, add flights and accommodation to the clinic price before comparing. Implant treatment usually means two short visits: placement over a few days, then the final restoration after roughly three to six months of healing — so budget two return trips. On Hollywood Smile and All-on-4/6 packages airport and hotel transfers are free (a small extra charge with single implants), but flights and hotel are yours to price, and you should compare the total, not the headline. For most UK and Irish patients the gap remains wide even after travel, but do the sum for your own case rather than taking anyone's word for it.

Compare aftercare and accountability, not just the procedure

Ask what happens once you are home. Our aftercare runs on WhatsApp seven days a week, with photo check-ins, so healing is monitored without another flight. Be equally clear-eyed about regulation: we are a private clinic operating under North Cyprus dental regulations, not registered with the UK GDC or CQC, and UK complaint routes do not apply.
